The
SOUTH ISLAND RANGERS (SIR) are lower Vancouver
Island's premier airsoft team based in Victoria British Columbia,
Canada. We are comprised of a small group of airsofter enthusiasts
that skirmish with the BCAC club in Vancouver, BC.The goal of
the SIR is to enjoy airsoft skirmishing in a fun, responsible
and safe manner with other fellow airsoft enthusiasts. SIR's main
focus is on the MILSIM style of skirmishing. These events can
range from 12 - 24 hours in length and contain a vast array of
simulated combat conditions and objectives. MILSIM's help enforce
the realism of airsoft and include the use of such things as props
and pyrotechnics and usually involve multiple objective based
scenarios. We feel these MILSIM's bring out the true essence of
airsoft. Thus is the attraction to to airsoft: the realism.

| "So,
what is Airsoft"? Airsoft stared out over a
decade ago in Japan, where owning any real firearm is strictly
prohibited and next to impossible. Airsoft guns are basically
1:1scale replica weapons that fire 6mm plastic BB's, and
are propelled by either gas or a battery operated motor
and piston. In most cases it is extremely hard to tell the
difference between an airsoft gun and the real thing. For
each 'real steel' gun type ever produced, chances are good
there is an airsoft version of it somewhere.
Skirmishing can be similar to that of
paintball, but with a stronger emphasis on military realism.
We find that a lot of our airsoft brethren were at one time
paintballers who got tired of questionable player ethics
and weapons that began resembling cheesy Sci-Fi props. Go
to the ABOUT section to find out
more about airsoft and the South Island Rangers.
