Based in Victoria, BC
Canada, the South Island Rangers were founded in 2000 and consist
of a small group of adult airsoft enthusiasts. Since then we have
slowly continued to grow and increase our numbers annually. The
SIR team members range in age from 19 to 40+ and all live in and
around the Victoria area.
The popularity of airsoft on Vancouver Island
slowly continues to grow and has now expanded to include several
other groups located on the Island. As of 2004, the SIR has expanded
it's role and has become a joint club with the BCAC (British Columbia
Airsoft Club). We now travel monthly over to Vancouver in order
to take part in regular skirmishing games and full scale MILSIM
events. The SIR is also a registered member of WCAN (Western Canadian
Airsoft Network) and takes part in most WCAN events.
Since our inception, we have continued
to grow as a team. The SIR pride themselves on being equipped
with a vast array of upgraded weapons and and the latest
in gear and equipment. Each member has spent hundreds, even
thousands, on their guns and gear. Effective communication
is the key to achieving this on the battle field. Along
with the use of standard hand signals, all team members
are equipped with UHF radios to maintain constant
communication with one another.
Fire discipline and squad movement are
constantly being redefined and practiced. The SIR participate
and also help teach and instruct BCAC "Boot Camps".
These day long boot camps are held several times a year
and are used to teach and practice both basic and advanced
skirmishing and patroling skills.
